Burning Pot Empties Building

It was just a pot burning on a stove but it was enough to empty the Windsor apartment building on the 35-hundred block of 30th Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Vernon Fire Rescue captain Doug Imrich says residents were out on the street when fire crews arrived at the scene.

He says internal alarms had gone off and there was a “fair bit of smoke in the suite and in the hallway.”

A female occupant was taken to hospital to be checked out for possible smoke inhalation, Imrich says.
