Fire Truck Fund Grows

Fire Truck Fund Grows

Oct 30, 2018 | 11:06 AM

A campaign to restore an old Lumby fire truck is more than halfway towards its goal.

The American LaFrance vehicle built in 1946, serviced the communities of Lumby, Lavington and Cherryville until the late 1970’s and then was sold to private interests.

It was owned by the Oakes family of Fintry BC when it was rediscovered this year.

The Lumby Museum has a Go Fund Me account that has raised just over $1,000 on a goal of $2,000 to restore the truck.

“All funds raised will go directly to the restoration project and bring back to life this piece of first responder history,” says a website on the fund. “We are inviting the community to get behind this project!”
