“We knocked it down quickly. There was smoke damage, but not a lot of fire damage.”

The smoke damage will force the woman and five children who lived there to use the emergency social services program to get temporary lodging.

Update 2pm

No word yet on what caused a house fire in Vernon’s BX area this morning.

Crews were called to the 7400 block of Pleasant Valley Road around 11:30 with reports of smoke coming from the home.

Crews were able to knock down the flames.

No one was believed home at the time.

A mother and five children lived there, and will be displaced for a while, with emergency social services helping them out.

Update 12:30 pm

The BX-Swan Lake Fire department is on the scene of a house fire.

The first reports came in abut 11:30, with dark grey smoke coming out of the eves of a a home in the 7400 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

Dispatch reports indicate the fire has been knocked down and the crews are venting the home.

Pleasant Valley Road has been closed to traffic in that area between Squires Four Pub and Atlantis water slides.

The BX-Swan Lake Fire department is responding to a report of a residential fire in the 7400 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

Thee are reports of dark grey smoke coming out of a home.

A general call-out to BX department volunteer members has been made, along with request for assistance from the Armstrong-Spallumcheen department.
