Okanagan College launches new entrepreneurship courses

Oct 1, 2026 | 3:00 PM

Okanagan College is launching new entrepreneurship courses this fall aimed at helping people turn business ideas into companies and grow existing businesses.

The programming includes short courses, workshops and a new microcredential, with online options designed to fit around an entrepreneur’s work schedule.

The Start Up Lab will guide participants through developing a business plan or investor pitch, while The Entrepreneur’s Toolkit will offer focused workshops on topics including strategic planning, risk management and business growth.

A new Rural Entrepreneur and Artisan microcredential will help people turn skills, crafts and business ideas into sustainable income.

The programs are among the first initiatives to come from a $10-million donation from the Hall Family Foundation, which led to the creation of the Hall School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

The college is also developing courses specifically for skilled-trades entrepreneurs, covering business setup, licensing, WorkSafeBC requirements, bookkeeping, budgeting and managing employees. Another stream will focus on business growth and using artificial intelligence.

Registration details for the trades courses are expected in the coming weeks.

More information is available through Okanagan College’s entrepreneurship program.
