SD22 trustee looking to serve third term

A School District 22 trustee is looking to serve on the board for another four years.

Mark Olsen is running to retain his seat representing Vernon and RDNO Areas B and C in the Greater Vernon Board of Education.

Olsen was elected to the seat in 2018 and was re-elected in 2022, and said in an online post that during those terms he “served on many District committees, including the Indigenous Education Advisory Committee, Health and Safety,” was involved in budget and board policy development, and “represented the district at regional and provincial forums regarding district funding and operational governance.

Olsen was also a teacher for 35 years, which he said provided him a unique perspective on issues faced by students, parents, staff and the community.
