‘Eby’s top priority in snap election is self-preservation’: Local BC Conservative

A local BC Conservative says Premier David Eby’s snap election is effectively so he can run against President Donald Trump in the U.S. mid-terms and run away from his own record in this province.

Kelowna-Mission MLA Gavin Dew called the decision “selfish and sneaky” and said the timing was opportunistic to take advantage of a leadership transition in the Opposition.

Dew said British Columbians will judge Eby on his record of a huge deficit and the worst private sector job creation in Canada. He said instead of day-to-day priorities, Eby’s top priority is self-preservation.

“British Columbians will judge him on his record: a deficit of $13.8-billion and growing, the worst private sector job creation in Canada, a health care system that’s crumbling, a crisis on our streets, and cost of living that is crushing people,” Dew said in an email to Vernon Matters.
