Bennett Bridge completely closed southbound after serious crash

The W.R. Bennett Bridge is completely closed southbound into West Kelowna following what appears to be a fatal crash early Tuesday morning.
DriveBC reported the closure on Highway 97 in Kelowna, with traffic backed up as far as Gordon Drive. A number of tractor-trailers are among the vehicles sitting idle in the congestion.
The number of vehicles involved remains unclear, although at least one vehicle appears to have been completely destroyed.
There has been no official confirmation from police that anyone was killed or injured, and no timeline has been given for when the bridge will reopen. DriveBC says its next update is expected at 7 a.m.
