Lakeview Peanut Pool hours being expanded

People looking to cool off in the summer heat will have more chance to access a local outdoor pool.

Vernon city council has agreed to expand the hours of the Lakeview Peanut Pool.

The pool will be open until 8 p.m. on weekdays during the peak of summer; there will be flexible evening programming for Tuesday and Thursday evenings; and there will be opportunities for private bookings on weekday mornings and for birthday party time slots.

The change in hours will be in effect between June 26 and August 1, though hours will be adjusted following that to align with seasonal daylight patterns and demand.

A city staff report said the Lakeview Peanut Pool provides relief from the summer heat, with around 14,000 visits seen in July and August of 2025. Those also included more than seven occasions when the pool reached maximum capacity.
