Criminality has not been ruled out in a local death, and police are asking the public for help with the investigation.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 9, police responded to a report of a deceased person found inside the Vernon Winter Carnival office.

“A determination of criminality has not been made at this time,” Const. Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, stated.

“The circumstances surrounding the person’s death are considered suspicious in nature and we are reaching out to the public for information that may help advance our investigation.”

Mounties said dashcam or security footage from that area between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. April 9 could help forward the investigation, and asked anyone with video to contact the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171 and quote file #2026-5597.
