Water Quality Advisory lifted

Feb 17, 2026 | 1:18 PM

The Water Quality Advisory for some properties in Vernon’s North End have been lifted.

Greater Vernon Water said the advisory was issued Tuesday for properties between 4313 and 4409 31st St. after a water main break caused a loss of pressure.

The system’s bacterial levels have since been tested and found to be within the safe drinking standard, leading to the advisory being rescinded Thursday, Feb. 19.

A precautionary Water Quality Advisory has been issued for select properties on 31st street.

Greater Vernon Water says a water main break caused a loss of water pressure in the system Tuesday, Feb. 17, leading to the advisory being issued for properties between 4313 to 4409 31st Street.

The break was repaired Tuesday morning but the advisory was put in place until testing showed the bacterial levels in the system were within the safe drinking standard.

Until those test results come back, people at the affected properties were advised to bring tap water to a roiling boil before drinking; using to prepare or make food or drink, including baby formula and ice; and brushing their teeth.

The loss of pressure may also result in people having air or discoloured water in their pipes. In these cases, people should run their cold taps until the water turns clear, with Greater Vernon Water noting it’s best to do this practice using an outdoor tap.
