Deadline approaching to participate in Vernon Winter Carnival

Jan 29, 2026 | 11:42 AM

People wishing to get involved with the annual winter celebrations have one last chance to sign up.

The deadline for the Vernon Winter Carnival’s Parade, Best Decorated Contest, and School Poster Contest is Friday, Jan. 30.

The theme for the 66th Vernon Winter Carnival is Team Carnival: Canada Goes for Gold.

While the SnowPitch event has been cancelled this year, organizers said several other events have become quite popular, with some sold out and spaces limited for Around the World at the Edge, Sip & Savour, Bingo Loco, and the Apres Ski Party at Silver Star.

People who want to secure a spot at those events can find tickets and up-to-date information at the Vernon Winter Carnival website.

“With excitement building and strong ticket demand, we encourage everyone to plan ahead and stay connected online,”said VWC Chair Vicki Proulx.

“This year’s Team Carnival theme is all about coming together and celebrating community pride. We encourage everyone to check out the festival schedule and find an event to attend, there is literally something for everyone.”

The Vernon Winter Carnival kicks off Friday, Feb. 6, with the Best Decorated contest, the start of the Downtown Gold Rush, the Poutine & Ceasar Showdown, the Winter VR Adventure, Halina Centre’s Bingo Marathon, and the Balloon Glow.

The parade takes place the following day, and the celebrations continue through to Feb. 15.
