Regional cricket league re-branded, ready for 2026

Jan 5, 2026 | 1:50 PM

The regional cricket league has changed its name heading into the new year.

The league formerly known as the Interior Cricket League has re-branded itself as the Elite Cricket League – B.C. Interior (ECL).

The league has 17 teams from communities across the region, including the North Okanagan Cricket Club, Okanagan United Cricket Club, Vernon Strikers and Vernon Strikers II from Vernon; The Lake Country Super Giants; and the Okanagan Valley Cricket Club, Glenmore Cricket Club, Kelowna Cricket Club and Kelowna Warriors from Kelowna.

Games are hosted across the region from Revelstoke and Kamloops to Castlegar and Nelson, and the ECL said it was excited to play games in Vernon once the new cricket pitch is developed in the community.

The ECL also committed to continuing to host its annual tournament, which it said attracts a lot of spectators and new interest in the sport, and to advocating for the development of more pitches to accommodate new teams in other communities.
