Kelowna MLA Gavin Dew says he will not seek the leadership of Conservative BC, citing family as his top priority.
In a statement Monday, Dew said he loves the province but wants to be present for his children during a critical stage in their lives. Political titles come and go, he added, but family remains the cornerstone of society.
Dew said he will continue his work as critic for jobs and the economy and focus on preparing the party for the next provincial election. He praised the slate of candidates stepping forward and said teamwork is essential to hold the governing NDP accountable while building voter support.
He encouraged supporters to get involved in the party by volunteering, joining as members, and voting in the leadership race to help shape the next government in British Columbia.
