Statue installed in honour of Jack Robertson ahead of Remembrance Day
A statue has been erected in Jack Robertson Memorial Park in Kelowna in honour of the park’s namesake.
The statue features a salvaged-wood bear sculpture, as well as a likeness of Jack Robertson.
Robertson was a veteran who died in the 1950s while helping build the park, and the statue was unveiled Sunday, Nov. 9, ahead of Remembrance Day.
“Jack Robertson’s story lives on as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of veterans who served our country abroad and returned home to continue serving their communities with that same sense of duty,” Mayor Tom Dyas said in a release.
