Vernon named a finalist in the SiriusXM Music Town contest

Vernon has made it down to the top eight in the national competition to find the next Music Town.

SiriusXM said Vernon was one of eight finalists in the Music Town competition.

Vernon and the other finalists beat out roughly 450 other communities vying for the title, which also comes with a prize in the form of a free concert by the band The Beaches.

People can log in to cast their vote for Vernon to be the winner of the SiriusXM Music Town title online here. People can cast one vote per day until the polling closes on October 24.
