Another new piece of road infrastructure is finished in Kelowna.

It’s a roundabout, a traffic measure the city says makes it easier and safer for everyone to get around.

It’s at Kane and Valley Road in the Glenmore area and is expected to be open for traffic this weekend.

The City said the $1.6 million project is part of their ongoing investment in infrastructure that supports safe, efficient and sustainable transportation.

In a media release the City said the roundabout will provide easier access to the area and improve safety for everyone, whether travelling by vehicle, bicycle or on foot.

The project includes new lighting, bike lanes and upgrades to stormwater and sanitary infrastructure, enhancing the neighbourhood and supporting long-term growth.

Roundabouts make it safer and easier for everyone to get around. They significantly reduce the number of severe collisions by slowing traffic and eliminating dangerous conflict points. They also help improve traffic flow by reducing the time drivers spend waiting at traffic lights, the City said.
