Burger Challenge a “slam dunk” in supporting business and charity: B.C. Bob

The celebrity guest judge of the Golden Burger Challenge has high praise for the economic and charitable impacts of the initiative.

Bob Kronbauer, also known as B.C. Bob, is a social media personality who uses his platforms to highlight stories and the history of British Columbia, and has a show on Chek TV that is a long-form version with that same premise, called Now You Know B.C.

B.C. Bob, who is originally from Vernon, visited six restaurants and tried six of the Golden Burger Challenge features on Thursday, and was back out on Friday taste-testing the remaining six.

Speaking with Vernon Matters, the guest judge said the challenge allowed him and many other residents to support local businesses and restaurants that people may have never tried before.

“Normally I would go to my regular spots when I visit, I would go to all my normal spots or I would go to friends’ houses for dinner, I would never experience this,” B.C. Bob said after sampling his final burger of the day Thursday.

“I’ve only been to one of the restaurants that I’ve been to on the tour so far, and I’ve probably only been to two total, of the twelve, so it’s been a journey of discovery.”

The guest judge also noted that the tour brought him to Diner on 6 Thursday, which he hadn’t been to since it was known as the Tasty Freeze.

He also said this initiative was a “slam dunk” in supporting local business as well as the North Okanagan Community Life Society (NOCLS), which receives $5 from every Golden Burger sale to be used for supporting people living with disabilities.

“The community gets awesome burgers to eat, they get an easy way to contribute, the charity wins, the restaurants all win,” B.C. Bob said.

“It’s a win-win-win!”

The restaurants participating in the Golden Burger Challenge can be found at the NOCLS website.
