Solar panels to be installed at Coldstream Community Hall

Aug 25, 2025 | 1:53 PM

The District of Coldstream will be using solar to power its community facility.

A report to Coldstream Council stated Roost Solar had been awarded the contract to install solar panels on the roof of the Coldstream Community Hall.

“Installation is expected to start in mid-September, 2025 when the weather is cooler to protect the roof during installation of the panels,” the report stated.

“In the meantime, Roost has been working with BC Hydro on the permits and ordering the components.”

The panels should be able to offset approximately 90 per cent of the annual power consumption of the Community Hall, though that estimate was based on an optimal year with average sunshine and no impacts from wildfire smoke.

The power generated by the panels will be tracked by Coldstream staff, who will provide information on the impacts of the panels to residents via a quarterly report.
