Silver Star Road to be partially closed for roundabout work

A section of the southbound lane of Silver Star Road will be closed for a day to accommodate work on Vernon’s new traffic control measure.

The lane will be closed at the intersection of Tillicum Road from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.

The closure is needed for the final paving and concrete work at the new roundabout at Phoenix Drive.

Northbound traffic will be able to go around the work site, but southbound drivers will be diverted around the area via Tillicum Road.

The work is scheduled to be done by end of day Wednesday, allowing the southbound lane to reopen in the evening.

The paving and concrete work is expected to be done by the end of August, and the final work, such as landscaping and installing new street lighting, is scheduled to be done by the end of September, barring any unforeseen delays.

Motorists are reminded to be cautious of workers and equipment in work zones, and follow all traffic control measures and speed limits.
