Vernon, Kelowna rowers take home medals at provincials

Okanagan-based rowing teams took home some hardware from the 2025 Rowing B.C. Provincial Championships.

Crews from the Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club (VRDB) and from Kelowna Rowing Club (KRC) were among the 289 teams participating at the championships at Burnaby Lake.

Among those who took home golds in their races were Vernon’s Aida Mills and Sierra Munroe, who won took the U19 Women’s Dull Scull champion title.

VRDBC’s Riley Brinnen finished first and claimed gold in the Adaptive Men’s Open Single race. Kobe Funk from Vernon claimed silver in that event as well.

Oleksii Lupan from KRC also earned a gold medal in the Men’s Open Single event.

Vernon’s U17 Men’s Double Scull crew of Peter Masys and Leo Middlecamp also took home hardware after finishing second in their race.

“This provincial championship once again highlighted the achievements of junior and senior rowers from the Interior, who are continuously pushing themselves to new historic heights in the sport,” VRDBC said in a release.
