Some financial aid will go to support a heritage home located just outside Vernon’s downtown core.

At the regular meeting Monday, July 15, Vernon City Council was asked to provide a $5,000 Heritage Restoration Grant for repairs at a house on 26th Street.

The two-storey house was built in 1895, and requires repairs to the front porch foundation.

The work was quoted at $14,175, so the homeowners applied for the program to help offset those costs.

Vernon City Council voted in favour of providing the grant, which will be paid out once the work is done.

The homeowners will have six months to start the work, and must have it completed within one year, in order to remain eligible for the financial aid.
