Vernon high schoolers earn gold in rowing competition

Four local students collected gold medals at one of the largest high school rowing events in the province.

Six crews from Vernon participated in the Shawnigan Lake School Regatta, including the U19 Mixed Team of Cole O’Connor and Sierra Munroe and the U17 Junior Varsity double crew of Peter Masys and Leo Middlekamp, who both took first place in their respective races.

O’Connor also took home the bronze in the U19 men’s single race.

Munroe and O’Connor will both join university rowing programs in the fall.
