Vernon’s street sweeping program ready to fully begin

Street sweepers will be rolling out on Vernon’s roads.

The city’s streets were covered with sand and gravel to keep them safe during snowy conditions over the winter, but with spring weather becoming more prevalent, that material was turning to dust.

Street sweeping crews were dispatched in recent weeks to clear the arterial roads and sidewalks, however, those operations will be expanded this week to encompass all of Vernon.

The work will take place seven days a week, weather permitting, between 4 a.m. and 8 p.m. The city said it could take up to six weeks to cover all neighbourhoods.
