Police in Kelowna are asking for assistance as it investigates a smash and grab job involving a stolen truck at a local store.

Kelowna RCMP said officers responded to a break and enter at a sports memorabilia store in the 300-block of Banks Rd. at 4:19 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20.

Officers arrived on the scene and learned that a truck had been used to crash through the front of entrance, and that two suspects then stole numerous items from the store.

Police determined the truck used for the crime, a white 2004 Ford F550 flat deck, was stolen not 10 minutes before the smash and grab job from another business in the 3500-block of Edwards Road.

The initial investigation found that at least two suspects were involved and that they fled the scene in a secondary vehicle, described only as a white pickup truck, that was parked across the street.

“We are asking any businesses in the area with CCTV to have a look and see if they captured this incident, along with any helpful video just prior and after the break-in,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officer, said.

“Officers are still collecting evidence and this investigation remains ongoing.”

Anyone with information about these crimes was asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, or to file an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
