Identifying Accessibility Barriers

RDNO asks people to participate in Accessibility Survey

Jan 20, 2025 | 12:44 PM

The Regional District of North Okanagan is developing an Accessibility Plan, and wants to gather input from the public.

The RDNP launched an Accessibility Survey for the region in December, and asked people to provide their feedback through the survey as the participation rate had been low so far.

“We want to understand the challenges our community members face, and in order to do so, we need to hear from the public,” Ashley Bevan, RDNO Deputy Corporate Officer, said.

“We’re hopeful more people will complete the survey by the end of the month, so we can move forward with creating a well-informed Accessibility Plan.”

The RDNO wishes to develop a well-rounded plan for the region that addresses barriers to accessibility, and want the public survey to help identify those difficulties in the physical environment, circulation of information and communications, and the delivery of local government programs and services.

The survey can be accessed online here, and physical copies can be picked up at RDNO office or local municipality offices in Vernon, Coldstream, Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Lumby and Enderby.

The survey will close January 31, 2025.
