Sentencing decision of pair involved in armed robbery still not handed down

Two men accused of armed robbery and assault have yet to learn their sentences.

Stewart Tkachuk and Edward Coghill face a number of charges each in relation to an incident that place in September of 2019.

The men were found guilty of several offences by a trial judge in June of 2024.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said sentencing submissions began on December 13, 2024, and concluded Friday, Jan. 10.

The men will be back in Vernon law courts January 20 to fix a date for the sentencing decision.

The charges the men face are as follows:

• Coghill
  • Break and enter and commit indictable offence
  • Commit robbery where a firearm is used
  • Discharge a firearm with intent to wound/disfigure
  • Unlawful discharge of a firearm
  • Disguise face with intent to commit an offence
  • Unlawful confinement or imprisonment
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a firearm without a license and/or registration
• Tkachuk:
  • Break and enter and commit indictable offence
  • Commit robbery where a firearm is used
  • Discharge a firearm with intent to wound/disfigure
  • Unlawful discharge of a firearm
  • Disguise face with intent to commit an offence
  • Unlawful confinement or imprisonment
  • Aggravated assault
  • Possession of a firearm without a license and/or registration
  • Possession of a firearm, etc., contrary to an order
