Police investigating string of business break and enters

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP launched an investigation into a series of break and enters at area businesses throughout December.

Police said more than a dozen reports of a person or persons breaking into businesses after hours between Dec. 15 and 30.

The majority of businesses targeted were salons or in the beauty industry, with police saying the perpetrators gained entry by smashing doors or windows.

“In some of the cases, the business was found insecure by a passer-by who reported it to police,” Cpl. Tania Finn, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.

“The amount of damage done by these suspects to break into the property is often far greater than anything they steal from inside.”

Police continue to investigate the break-ins, and are offering a cash reward for information leading to arrests. People with information about the incidents can contact the RCMP at 250-545-7171, or report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
