The annual tradition of bringing people together for Christmas celebrations and a meal will be held in Vernon again this year.

The 13th Together for Christmas event will be held at the Schubert Centre for people who would otherwise be spending the day alone. This will be the first time the event will be held at the facility on 30th Avenue, as it was previously held at St. James School.

“It’s exciting to be hosting at Schubert Centre,” Together for Christmas director, Gwen Barker, said.

“It’s closer to lots of seniors, single folks, and families in the area, and our volunteers can’t wait to welcome everyone there.”

The event will feature crafts, music, and a meal.

“We’re so grateful for the support we get from the community,” Sheila Monroe, another director, said.

“Local businesses like Rogers Flour, Rancho Vignola, Butcher Boys, JD Farms, and Bellmann’s Produce have all stepped up again this year. We’re also holding our Baking Bee on Dec. 7 to make desserts, so it’ll be a delicious day!”

The group running the event said extra volunteer and financial support were welcome to ensure it runs smoothly, with details about Together for Christmas available on Facebook and Instagram.

The event will run from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 25. It will be open to everyone, with organizers noting it will be a drug and alcohol free event.
