The City of Vernon will be upgrading and improving its Emergency Operations Centre thanks to a boost in funding.
The city was successful in its application to the Union of B.C. Municipalities’ (UBCM) Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, and will receive a $30,000 grant from the Emergency Operations Centre Equipment and Training 2024 Program.
The funding will be used to purchase equipment and enhance training for the local Emergency Operations Centre.
Vernon City Council will receive a report on the successful application at the regular meeting Monday, May 27, and is expected to then authorize staff use the grant for its aforementioned purposes.
