Two former Vipers among the BCHLers competing in NCAA Div 1 Championship

The 2024 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Ice Hockey Championship starts Thursday, March 28, and two former Vernon Vipers will be among the dozens of former BCHL’ers competing in the tournament.

Doug Scott, who played for the Vipers, along with the Cowichan Valley Bulldogs and the Merritt Centennials, will hit the ice with the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Jesse Lansdell, who played for the Vipers along with the Chilliwack Chiefs, will dress for Nebraska-Omaha.

The two former Vipers are among 82 BCHL alumni taking part in the collegiate tournament.

Rochester will play their fist game of the tournament at 2 p.m., March 28, facing off against Boston University.

University of Nebaraska-Omaha faces off against the University of Minnesota at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Of the teams playing in the Div 1 Championship, Cornell University, Quinnipiac University and Rochester Institute of Technology have the most former BCHLers with nine on each roster.

The 2023 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Ice Hockey Championship was won by Quinnipiac University, which featured 15 former BCHL players, including former Penticton Vees forward Jacob Quillian who won the championship game with an overtime goal.
