Woman arrested after guns seized from stolen vehicle

Mar 25, 2024 | 5:00 PM

Police arrested a woman after they found illegal guns inside a stolen vehicle in Armstrong.

The call initially came in as a suspicious vehicle that an officer spotted while on patrol. It was parked, and the ignition was running, in the parking lot of a business in the 3100-block of Smith Drive around 4 a.m. Saturday, March 23.

After the license plate came back as stolen, the officer approached the driver and placed the lone occupant of the vehicle under arrest for possessing stolen property without incident.

A search of the vehicle lead to the seizure of illegal firearms, including a handgun, and ammunition.

“Conducting traffic stops with a stolen vehicle is high-risk for our police officers,” Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer, said. “It is never known what our officers will encounter and it is very fortunate for everyone involved the driver decided to cooperate with police.”

A 31-year-old woman from Kamloops was taken into custody and faces numerous charges including possession of stolen property and firearms-related offences.

The incident is under investigation.
