The Vernon Vipers went two-for-two during their BC Hockey League games held at Kal Tire Place North, capping it off with a 3-2 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Sunday night.

Luke Pakulak powered the Vipers offence with a goal and one assist and was named the first star before a packed house of 756 fans (official attendance).

The Vipers were playing at the North arena due to repairs and ice -re-installment at Kal Tire Place South which should reopen March 20.

Defenceman Noah Dorey of Surrey added two assists for Vernon who were playing their second official game under new interim head coach Lukas Lomicky after the team announced Saturday it had “parted ways” with head coach and GM Jason McKee who was in his fifth season.

Ethan David made 25 saves in net as the Vipers got their 30th win of the season, with just four games left in the regular season.

A skirmish broke out at the final buzzer with a number of players involved. The Vipers’ Luke Pakulak was given a major penalty for an illegal check to the head.

The Snakes play their next three games against the Prince George Spruce Kings (two in PG and one at home Mar. 29) and then end the regular campaign at home against the Powell River Kings Mar. 30.

The Vipers are fourth in the Interior Conference, four points back of the third place Salmon Arm Silverbacks and five ahead of the fifth place Trail Smoke Eaters who could be their first round playoff opponent.
