Vipers forward among BCHL stars of the week

Vernon Vipers forward Owen Kim is the BCHL’s second star of the week after amassing five points in two games last week.

The North Vancouver product earned his first career BCHL hat trick, and added one assist, in a 5-4 overtime win over the Merritt Centennials Friday. He was named the game’s first star.

On Saturday, Kim picked up an assist in Vernon’s 6-2 road loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters.

The 19-year-old is Vernon’s leading scorer with 45 points in 42 games.

The league’s first star was Matt Kursonis of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs

The forward led all BCHL players with four goals and tied for the league lead with five points in two games.

All of his points came in one game as he notched his first career four-goal game in Saturday’s win over the Powell River Kings.

The third star was Ridge Dawson of the Trail Smoke Eaters.

The forward from Kelowna picked up a goal and four assists in a pair of Smoke Eaters home wins.
