Two arrested in North Okanagan traffic stop

A man wanted on warrants, and a prohibited driver, were arrested following a traffic stop in Enderby.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP stopped a vehicle for a driving infraction near the intersection of Fortune Road and Highway 97A.

The officer learned the man operating the vehicle was prohibited from driving, and a further check found that the plates did not match the vehicle and there was no valid insurance.

While the driver was being detained, the passenger, who was wanted on multiple arrest warrants, attempted to flee on foot. However he didn”t make it very far and was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.

The driver was issued a number of violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act and then released from custody pending a future court appearance.

The passenger, a 51-year-old Enderby man, remained in custody on warrants and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Nov. 22.
