Show me the beef: Golden Burger Challenge winner served-up

The 2023 Golden Burger Challenge was a mouth-watering success, raising $20,000 for a local non-profit.

Diner on 6, with its Smash Burger Tacos, was announced as the champion at an awards ceremony for the third annual event Tuesday at the Towne Theatre.

Ten restaurants created ten special burgers for the month-long event in October. Five dollars from each burger sold went to the North Okanagan Community Life Society which helps people and families with disabilities.

Over 1,400 burger votes were submitted, with about $20,000 raised.

The Roster Sports Club Bar and Grill sold the most burgers during the event with its Lucha Libre burger. The Roster had won the challenge in 2021 and 2022.

The Judges Choice was Bourbon Street’s Louisiana Hurrication Burger, while Match Eatery’s The Nacho Piedras Negras was runner-up.

Awards were also handed out for best server as the public was asked to put down the name of their server at each restaurant, making them eligible for gift card prizes.

First place went to Yvette from Diner on Six; 2nd place was Carlee from Roster’s Sports Bar & Grill and 3rd place was Dani from the Longhorn Pub.
