The Vernon Pickleball Association is in the running to be named Canada’s best pickleball club for 2023.

The Canadian e-platform, Pickleball Today, is having a contest to name the top club.

“In June, the VPA submitted their compelling story and was voted into the top 11 clubs,” Anne Longley, publicity for the VPA, said.

Voting has been taking place across Canada the last few weeks to determine which club will be named Canada’s best.

“The VPA has been in a head-to-head battle for first with a small club from New Brunswick, and in this the final week of voting, a big push is needed to take the win. Voting ends on October 15,” Longley said.

Anyone can vote. You don’t need to play pickleball or be a member of the VPA.

Longley encourages people to vote “to support our wonderful city with spirit and to give the VPA bragging rights to being named Canada’s Best Pickleball Club.”

Longley said the Okanagan Wealth Advisor’s (OWA) Pickleball Complex has become a year-round destination for pickleball players across B.C. and the envy of many communities.

“The VPA has hosted four tournaments this year including the inaugural BC Provincials with 650 competitors. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in North America, and having a year-round dedicated facility in Vernon has become a draw for both tourism and new residents,” Longley said.

The VPA is a non-profit organization with over 1,100 members.
