Vernon and area Newcomers Club relaunches

Oct 14, 2022 | 4:15 PM

The Vernon and Area Newcomers Club is restarting following the COVID-19 pandemic.

First launched in 2019, the club intends to connect people who have recently moved to the region through group activities such as art lessons and wine tours, run events, and hold meetings with special guest speakers.

The club was forced to shut down during the pandemic.

“We are excited about getting the club going again and providing a range of activities and events that help newcomers become familiar with the area and provide an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends,” said original member Marilyn Robson in a release to Vernon Matters.

“A newcomers club is a wonderful way to integrate into a new life and a new community.”

The club will have it’s first meeting at 6:45 p.m. on November 1 at the Vernon Library. There will be an opportunity for people to mingle before the meeting begins.

Attendees will then be asked if they are interested in becoming a member and what kinds of activities and events they would like the club to organize.
