The Vernon Vipers will have a number of new players when they host the Prince George Spruce Kings Friday night.

The BCHL team has acquired forward Ethan Rowland from the Calgary Canucks and defenceman Anson McMaster from the Winnipeg Freeze.

Both pick-ups were in exchange for future considerations.

“This was an opportunity to add experience and size to our lineup,” said head coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.

“We expect both players to come in and make an impact with our group in a multitude of ways.”

Rowland has played with the Red Deer Rebels and the Kamloops Blazers. In his WHL career, he has suited up for 111 games.

McMaster also has WHL experience, having played a total of 29 games between the Winnipeg Ice and Victoria Royals.

Rowland is 5’9 and 183 lbs., while McManus is 6’6 and 214 lbs.

Both newly-acquired players will be in the lineup this weekend.

The Vernon Vipers earlier announced the signing of defenceman Matthew Sutter (born in 2004).

The Spruce Grove, AB product spent last season with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.
The Vipers say he is not related to the NHL Sutter family.

In a pair of separate deals, the Vipers traded forwards Ludovik Tardif and Revy Mack.

Tardiff is heading to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs while Mack will be playing with the Anchorage Wolverines in the NAHL. Both trades were in exchange for future considerations.
