Campaign sign stolen in Vernon

Oct 6, 2022 | 12:00 PM

A campaign sign for Vernon’s incumbent mayor has reportedly been stolen.

In an email to Vernon Matters, Victor Cumming said his sign at the corner of Bella Vista /30th Ave. and 41st St. was stolen Wednesday, Oct. 5.

The sign was mounted to a piece of plywood, and in his email Cumming stated “I hope the person(s) involved just return the sign if they wanted the plywood.”

He added that having the sign stolen is a “costly nuisance for the campaign.”

Vernon Matters has reached out to Cumming for further comment, and it is not known if this is the only sign stolen from his or from other candidates.

The sign theft comes just weeks after Vernon’s mayoral candidates condemned the vandalism of campaign signs, after several of Scott Anderson’s were vandalized.
