Motorists are getting a bit of a break ahead of the Labour Day long weekend as Canadian gas prices haven’t been this low since before Russia invaded Ukraine in late February.
The federal government reports the national average retail price for regular gasoline was 161 cents per litre Thursday (Sept. 1), with Alberta at the low end of prices at 140 cents per litre.
Most Vernon stations are selling regular gas today for 174.9 cents a litre, down about 45 cents from the city’s all- time high of 219.9 cents in June.
The average price in Kelowna is 177.9 cents per litre, down 11 cents from last month’s average.
