Wildfire moving away from Lytton, but blaze still out of control
A wildfire that sparked near Lytton on Thursday (July 14), is reportedly moving away from the village.
“As of noon [Friday], the Nohomin Creek wildfire was an estimated 800 hectares in size. It is located approximately 1.7 kilometres northwest of Lytton on the west side of the Fraser River,” said Katrine Conroy, Minister of Forests.
“At this time, it is not posing a threat to Lytton, as it is moving away from the town.”
The wildfire is classified as ‘out of control’ and continues to spread, but Conroy stated that wildfire crews are conducting “aggressive suppression and control tactics” to contain the blaze.
