North Westside flood/landslide online info session

May 12, 2022 | 5:30 AM

The Regional District of Central Okanagan will hold an information session this afternoon for residents of the North Westside regarding floods and landslides.

The regional government says due to last summer’s White Rock Lake wildfire, some areas of the North Westside are at higher risk for overland flooding and potential slides.

To raise awareness and help get residents prepared, the regional district will hold a YouTube live online information session today (May 12) from 2 – 3 p.m.

People can join in at youtube/regionaldistrict to hear expert guests from Clarke Geoscience, Ministry of Transportation and Infastructure, Emergency Management BC and the RDCO:

  • Review the area hazardous conditions assessments and what affected property owners should monitor
  • Discuss how to prepare for potential flood and land movement
  • Review general emergency preparedness for your family
  • Provide updates on the RDCO Resiliency and Recovery office

If you’re not able to join it live, the session will be recorded and available on May 13 on the RDCO YouTube channel.

Residents can also check the assessments done by the RDCO and the province to get more specific details about their property at rdco.com/recovery
