Discount dining card provides boost to non-profits and restaurants

Feb 14, 2022 | 1:00 PM

A fundraiser by the Vernon Rotary Club is helping local charities, restaurants and consumers.

The Discount Dining Card is a partnership between community-minded restaurants and the club, which has raised over $12,000 so far, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to local charities and non-profit groups.

The participating restaurants each offer their own individual discount, or special dining offer, which is then listed on the Rotary Club’s Dining Discount Card. The purchaser can dine and receive the various discounts a minimum of five times at each of the participating restaurants. In all, the purchaser can obtain dozens of offers per card.

The cards cost $20 and are valid until Dec. 31, 2022. The club says depending on use, the Discount Dining Cards can potentially save the user hundreds of dollars.

A limited supply of the Rotary Discount Dining Cards are now available at the Ticket Seller Box Office at the Vernon & District Performing Arts Centre at 3800 33rd Street.

Other organizations such as PACs, dry grads, sports teams and seniors groups in need of funds can purchase a block of cards (minimum 20 cards) from the Vernon Rotary Club, sell them for $20 and retain a $10 commission per card for their efforts.
