Santa Toy Club provides funds for Vernon Salvation Army programs
Supporters of Beach Radio’s Santa Toy Club have helped make the holidays a little merrier for the less fortunate.
The charity that got its start in 1952 when the radio station was called CJIB AM, has presented the Vernon Salvation Army with a $1,500 donation for the army’s programs including toys for children.
Neil Thompson, auxiliary-lieutenant with the Salvation Army, said it’s a busy time of year for them.
“We try to serve as many people as we can that are in need in the community, and this year it looks like there is going to be over 500 families that are in need of our support,” Thompson told Vernon Matters.
