B.C. Premier John Horgan announces growth in throat was cancerous, will begin radiation

Nov 4, 2021 | 11:24 AM

VICTORIA — B.C. Premier John Horgan has announced he has cancer.

Horgan underwent a surgical procedure and biopsy last week after discovering a growth in his throat.

In a Twitter post Thursday morning (Nov. 4), Horgan said the surgery and biopsy went well, but the pathology confirmed the growth was cancerous.

Horgan goes on to say his prognosis is good and he expects to make a full recovery. He says he will start radiation treatment in the coming weeks with an expected completion by the end of December. He will continue to work virtually during that time.

Horgan, 62, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2008. After treatment, he was declared cancer-free.

In the tweet, Horgan thanks well-wishers.
