Two COVID-19 deaths recorded in the Interior Thursday

The Ministry of Health reports that two people in the Interior died due to complications from COVID-19 on Thursday, Sept. 30, bringing the regional death toll up to 229.

In total there were nine deaths recorded Thursday, bringing the number of British Columbians who have died from the virus up to 1,962.

There were 157 new cases recorded in the Interior Thursday, and 749 reported province-wide. The province notes that in the past week, the unvaccinated accounted for 64.1 per cent of the cases, the partially vaccinated made up 7.1 per cent, and 28.8 per cent of the cases have been fully vaccinated individuals.

The province was unable to provide hospitalization numbers due to the holiday, but did note that there were 145 COVID-19 patients in intensive care Thursday. The Ministry of Health notes that the unvaccinated have accounted for 71.4 per cent of hospitalizations over the past two weeks, the partially vaccinated made up 9.2 per cent and the remaining 19.4 per cent were fully vaccinated patients.
