Active COVID-19 cases climb in the Interior Tuesday

A total of 360 British Columbians were admitted to hospital with COVID-19 complications between Sept 13 and 26. The province notes that the unvaccinated made up 269 or 74.7 per cent of those patients, the partially vaccinated accounted for 357 or 7.1 per cent, and the fully vaccinated made up 63 or 17.5 per cent of the hospitalizations.

The province says that, after factoring in age, the unvaccinated are 26.7 times more likely to be admitted to hospital due to COVID-19.

The provincial first-dose vaccination rate for residents age 12 and over rose to 87.8 per cent on Tuesday, and 80.6 per cent of eligible British Columbians have received both jabs.

The province notes that there are 22 active outbreaks in B.C. health-care facilities, 10 of which are in the Interior.
