Westshore Estates water quality advisory removed

The Regional District of Central Okanagan and Interior Health have lifted a Water Quality Advisory for customers of the Westshore Estates water system in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area.
The precautionary advisory affecting approximately 289 properties has been in place since August 9 following a power outage and firefighting suppression efforts related to the White Rock Lake wildfire. Since then, required bacterial tests are negative in accordance with Canadian guidelines for drinking water quality. Last week a similar advisory was removed for 147 customers of the Upper Fintry, Shalal Road, Valley of the Sun water system.
A Do Not Consume notice remains in effect for approximately 295 customers connected to the Killiney Beach water system as a result of damage caused by the wildfire. RDCO Engineering staff are working to restore safe drinking water service. Killiney Beach customers should only use a safe alternative such as bottled or distilled water or water provided by the RDCO at a self-service filling station located at the corner of Westside Road and Firwood Road from the Upper Fintry system. While water from the Killiney Beach system should not be consumed, it is okay to use for household cleaning, bathing and flushing toilets.
The Regional District provides water service to just over 1,100 connections in six service areas.
