Precautionary boil water notice for West Kelowna
The City of West Kelowna and Interior Health have issued a precautionary Boil Water Notice for the Shannon Lake neighbourhood and the West Kelowna Business Park within the Lakeview-Rose Valley Water Service Area due to a main break in the vicinity of Golf Course Drive.
Crews are on site making repairs.
Residents are experiencing turbidity as a result of the water main break. Turbidity affects the performance of the chlorine disinfection process because bacteria, protozoa, viruses and other microorganisms can attach themselves to suspended particles in the turbid water. These particles can interfere with disinfection by shielding the microorganisms from the chlorine.
Under this precautionary Boil Water Notice residents in the Shannon Lake area should use water brought to a rolling boil for one minute or more, or seek an alternative safe source, for brushing teeth, drinking, making baby formula and ice, preparing food and beverages and washing fruits and vegetables.
