Woman zapped by Taser after allegedly attacking RCMP officers

A woman who allegedly assaulted Salmon Arm RCMP officers has been arrested.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, when officers were called to Tappen Valley Road for reports of a woman laying in the road holding a screwdriver and screaming.

An officer attended and was joined by two others as they tried to locate and identify the woman, who had since moved to a nearby residence.

The officers arrived at the residence and attempted to make contact with the woman, who RCMP said allegedly turned violent and began throwing glass and metal objects at the Mounties.

The woman then allegedly struck one of the officers on the hand with a machete, and rushed the other two with a scythe.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 p.m. Monday, Aug.16, when officers were clled to Tappen Valley Road for reports of a woman laying in the road holding a screwdriver and screaming.

“We are happy to report that the officers were unharmed and resumed duties after they took the woman to the hospital, where she remains under a doctor’s care at this time,” stated Staff Sgt. Scott West in a release.

The RCMP is continuing to investigate the incident.
